Auskelp Farming in the Making: Extended Announcement
Eden Could Soon Become the Country’s Major Supplier of Kelp, Creating Fertilisers and Bio-Products
Ocean2Earth are still buzzing after an incredible day in Eden last week! We were thrilled to stand alongside our partners at Bega Circular Valley, the Marine Bioproducts CRC, and Auskelp to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
This MOU formalises our shared vision: to build a new, innovative blue-green industry right here in the Bega Valley. The partnership represents a groundbreaking initiative that positions Eden as Australia’s premier kelp farming hub, with the potential to revolutionise sustainable agriculture across the nation.
Together, we’re collaborating to scale up kelp farming, processing, and the manufacturing of marine-based biostimulants. This comprehensive approach encompasses everything from offshore cultivation systems to advanced processing facilities that will transform raw kelp into high-value agricultural products. It’s all about advancing more sustainable and regenerative farming practices by harnessing the power of the ocean.
The initiative promises significant economic benefits for the Far South Coast region, creating new employment opportunities while establishing a world-class marine agriculture sector. Our kelp-derived fertilisers and biostimulants will provide Australian farmers with locally-produced, environmentally-friendly alternatives to synthetic inputs, supporting both agricultural productivity and ocean health.
A huge thank you to everyone who made this milestone day a success. This is a massive step forward for the circular economy, and we can’t wait to share what’s next!
